The International Maritime Film Festival is pleased to bring you IMFF OFF SEASON, a series of three feature films in the lead up to this year’s festival weekend scheduled for September 28-30, 2018.

ALL FILMS WILL SCREEN AT 6PM AT THE ALAMO THEATRE IN DOWNTOWN BUCKSPORT

This series is offered for free to the community thanks to a generous grant from the Arts Expansion Fund of the Maine Community Foundation. Donations to IMFF are gratefully accepted at the door.

FISHERMAN’S SON

The story of Chilean big-wave surfer Ramón Navarro and his efforts to save the environment and the culture of his home, Punta de Lobos. Watch the trailer here (film has Spanish subtitles)

UNDER AN ARCTIC SKY

Six surfers set sail along the frozen shores of Iceland, knowing that the worst storm to hit the country in twenty-five years is about to arrive. Enduring constant darkness and stormy seas, they discover perfect waves and make history by surfing under the northern lights.

CHASING BUBBLES

Meet Alex Rust, a farm boy turned day trader from Indiana who, at 25, abandoned his yuppie life in Chicago, bought a modest sailboat, and set out to sail around the world. Watch the trailer here. Filmmaker will be in attendance to introduce film and take audience questions.

ANOTE’S ARK

The Pacific Island nation of Kiribati is one of the most remote places on the planet. It is one of the first countries that must confront the main existential dilemma of our time: imminent annihilation from sea-level rise. Anote’s Ark premiering in 2018 at the Sundance Film Festival.
